  My background is in laser optics and spectroscopy, beginning the summer after my freshman year at Berkeley, when I secured an undergraduate research position. During my first week, I was handed a cardboard box with a completely disassembled dye laser and given the task of bringing it back to life. In the ensuing years I have worked with a wide array of lasers, from Class 1 diode lasers to Class 4 amplified Ti:sapphire lasers, doing experiments in both the time and frequency domain. In addition, I have developed instrument control applications in both MATLAB and LabVIEW, and used MATLAB to develop modeling and simulation routines to understand and validate my data. My newest hobby has been assembling and programming Arduino microcontroller sensors and data loggers, and have deployed them both in a professional laboratory environment and in my own personal space.
