Ian Cross’s Expertise I am a highly trained and recognised forensic fire investigation origin and cause specialist. My fields of expertise include structure (all facets), vehicle (light and heavy) and plant, marine, and bush fires. I have investigated thousands of fires to determine their origin and cause. I am also an emergency management expert with over 20 years experience in the emergency management arena. I have been a regular lecturer and subject matter expert with Victoria Police instructing mid manager police supervisors in the emergency management sector. I have written, facilitated, coordinated and evaluated significant numbers of emergency exercises from table top exercises to full scenario drills. I engage with customers and businesses to determine their objectives, write, conduct and appraise exercises and then provide a detailed report with appropriate recommendations for companies to adopt as required. I also have considerable training and experience in emergency management response and consequence management of large scale emergencies. With the benefit of my ICAM training I have examined several workplace accident scenes, some under LPP as well as others in conjunction with WorkSafe. My reports are comprehensive and provide companies and businesses with recommendations to improve their workplaces. With the introduction of new workplace manslaughter crimes, the prevention and preparedness to incidents is even more important.
