James Scripter’s Expertise I have always had a fascination in the living world, and was always curious about how everything worked and functioned. Recently, I graduated from Westfield State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Over my 4 years at WSU I learned and gathered great experience in various laboratory techniques and equipment. I took various courses (described below in the “Courses” section) and conducted an independent study project in my senior year. Conducting this independent study has given me the great opportunity to gain laboratory experience and techniques, and problem solving skills. After college I was given the opportunity to work at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland as a postbaculaureate working in Dr.Susan Wrays lab. In Dr.Wrays lab I gained valuable laboratory skills related to developmental neuroscience like Cryosectioning, florescent immunolabeling, and much more. After working at the NIH for 1.5 years I was accepted into the Biomedical sciences graduate program at West Virginia University. As a graduate student at WVU I am now currently working towards achieving my Ph.D in Neuroscience working in Dr.Eric Tuckers lab, looking the role for c-Jun N-terminal kinase in proper Thalamocortical axon pathfinding.
