My latest enterprise is in creating a series of unique hard back books on various aspects of woodworking and design linking in with online videos and PDF files. I was once a sports teacher with College colours for gymnastics, broke a school record for 440 yards (.6 of a second faster than the Womens' World Record at the time which means little!) and I have attended an Outward Bound Course at Ullswater. I have been a befriender for MIND and am organizer and judge for 'The Alan Peters Furniture Award'. My interests include vehicle maintenance, motorcycle riding, playing badminton, chess & fly fishing for salmon. I was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts 'for the encouragement of Arts, manufacture and Commerce' in 2009 but have found their focus to be far from that and on politics and social policy. I hoped I would find a supportive platform over my initiatives in Practical education and the prestige value would get me back on the lecture circuit (that I was once head hunted for) - the reality is I am expected to fund all sorts of immature projects not relevant to my own life mission whilst my own lifelong commitments are ignored!
