Jeremy Rees’s Expertise I love great journalism, interesting stories and running newsrooms. I've edited the largest newspaper in New Zealand, edited an award-winning news website, run a large number of New Zealand's local papers and I am currently executive editor at public broadcaster, Radio New Zealand. I have a special interest in journalism education and newsroom diversity. I have been an active member of NZ media bodies, including the Media Freedom Committee and the Media-Judicial Liaison committee. I have chaired a Journalism Training industry committee and been on the committee of AUT and Waiariki liason boards. I have led newsrooms through some of the biggest news events of the last 20 years; elections, earthquakes, terrorism, disasters and Rugby World Cups. And, outside work, I am fascinated by the rise of China, so I did a Graduate Diploma at Auckland University majoring in Chinese Studies. And I am proud to be chair of a cancer charity, Neuroendocrine NZ (formerly Unicorn NZ), supporting our patients. A good communicator, natural team leader, smart and flexible. Specialties: Managing newsrooms, influencing for cultural change, news production, content negotiations and acquisitions, maintaining content partnerships, applying traffic data to improving content, editorial training, daily news management, news from hyperlocal to national.
