Jim Rutherford’s Expertise Jim is a design-focused software engineer working on the intersection of UX, design, and innovative user interfaces. He is an open source advocate with over two decades of development and tech leadership experience. He is very passionate about UX, and has focussed his career on helping designers bring their concepts to life. Jim's work has been featured in the Apple App Store on two occasions. Jim's most recent experience working at Black Pixel had him working on apps for a Fortune 10 company, a small startup and he was a member of the team that brought the popular diff comparison app - Kaleidoscope - to the iOS platform. Jim has been focused on developing engaging enterprise and consumer iOS applications for the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. While his most recent projects have been developed with Apple's Swift programming language, he also spent a number of years crafting Objective-C code. Jim is also experienced with native iOS Salesforce integrations, leveraging the Salesforce Mobile SDK to create highly interactive line of business applications. Jim was a senior architect with the team that wrote the email client for Blackberry 10. He also worked at Universal Mind and Cynergy Systems - developing ground-breaking projects for clients such as Sun Microsystems and T-Mobile. He was the Program Chair for Digital Media Technologies at Vancouver Island University and taught Information Architecture, Programming for Web, Interactive Design, Interactive Programming, Server Administration and Digital Design. While not crafting code, Jim is a husband and father, builds acoustic guitars and runs half marathons.
