Surgical specialties included ENT, Urological, Vascular, Plastics and Thoracic with an emphasis on Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics and General Surgery.Primary nursing for patients across the continuum of care, from the least acute to the most acute. Continuously assessed the needs of the patient and provided appropriate interventions. Utilized critical thinking, multitasking, prioritization, and decisive judgment in a fast-paced, acute care environment.Primary care in the immediate postoperative phase of recovery. Continually assessed and addressed basic life-sustaining needs of the patient. Critical care focused on airway management, re-establishing hemodynamic stability, frequent vital signs, surgical site assessments, and pain management. In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, used critical thinking to determine the next most appropriate level of care and facilitated the safe transfer of the patient to that location, including discharge home, admission to an inpatient bed, or transitioning to an intensive care setting. Developed my nursing foundation in this SICU, including excellent assessment skills, strong attention to detail, management of competing priorities, excellent communication, empathy and compassion, all while working in a fast-paced, critical-care environment supporting safe, excellent patient care.
