Joe Montgomery’s Expertise Joe Montgomery is a fundraising consultant (JMA, LLC) specializing in campaign planning and implementation. He most recently directed Darlington School's 90 million comprenhensive campaign which exceeded it's goal raising 97 million. He has lead similar campaigns at Shorter College and Stetson University. Prior to joining Darlington School, he served as Senior Vice President of Private Client Services for SunTrust Bank, now Truist. He has held the position of Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia and Chief Development Officer at Stetson University in Deland, Florida. He has been active in CASE (Council for the Advancement and Support of Education), serving on the Board of Directors and on the faculty at numerous conferences and seminars. His teams are multiple winners of CASE's Circle of Excellence Award. Montgomery is active in community and state organizations. He presently serves on the board of the Okefenokee Swamp Park Foundation, Inc and Coosa River basin Initative. In 2018, he was appointed by President Jimmy Carter to serve on the Carter Center Board of Councilors. In 2007, he was appointed by Governor Sonny Purdue to serve on the Private Colleges and Universities Authority and was reappointed by Governor Nathan Deal in 2013. Having served as an officer on his local Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce Board, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. He served as Chairman of the Board of Georgia Conservancy and presently serves as a member of the Advisory Board. A member of Leadership Georgia’s Class of 1999, he served on the Leadership Georgia Board of Trustees from 2003-2006 and in 2008, received the Fred Kerr Award, “for enthusiastic and active support of Leadership Georgia on a continuing and consistent basis.” He has provided "pro bono" consulting services in strategic planning, board development and fundraising for non-profits in his community and state-wide. In 2017, for his committed service and dedication to the Rome community, he was a recipient of the Heart of the Community Award. An Eagle Scout, he has been a lifelong volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America. Montgomery is a graduate of Stetson University (BA), LaGrange College (MA), and attended Harvard University’s Institute of Educational Management in the Graduate School of Education. He is married to Rebekah Barron Montgomery and has three daughters, Anne, Mary Beth and Hannah and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren.
