Joe Stitzlein’s Expertise I design obsessively crafted and technologically advanced identities, brand systems and typefaces. I worked with Steve Jobs after his return to Apple, launched Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move program for healthy schools, designed the Netflix, Lilly and dwell logos, built a global design studio at Google, designed a typeface for Meta in thousands of languages, launched the world’s first crypto bank and created campaigns that made the Nike Free the world’s best-selling shoe, period. In 2016 I co-founded Stitzlein Studio, a brand identity, typeface design and digital experience practice based in the San Francisco Bay area. Our mission is to translate our client’s technical achievements into inspirational identities and intuitive experiences. Previously, I was the Executive Creative Director for the Google Brand Studio, where I led the design of experiences such as the Google Store, an online store that unites all of Google’s hardware into one beautiful and unified brand experience. Before relocating to the Bay Area, I was a Senior Global Creative Director at Nike where I drove the creative for Nike+, Nike Running, the Olympic Trials, and worked with First Lady Michelle Obama on her healthy schools initiative. I’ve designed global typeface systems, identities, packaging, products and event experiences for Nike, Google, Intuitive Surgical, Head Start, Facebook, Apple, FedEx, Herman Miller, P&G, Pixar and Dwell magazine. My work has been featured in Adweek, the AIGA annual, the Annual of the Type Director’s Club, Atlantic Cities, the Annual of the AIA, D&AD, fastcodesign.com, Graphic Design USA and at Cannes, amongst others.
