Joe Walsh’s Expertise I started Green Clean Maine in October of 2007 to answer the question "Can I really do well by doing good?" I am personally committed to environmental and economic sustainability issues and bring that passion to my company every day. In business, my interests are in enterprises that make a profit and create a net environmental benefit at the same time. I am also interested in and have some experience with real estate development and investing. I am particularly interested in land use policy, as I have long been convinced that a large part of the answer to a lack of affordable housing lies in creative land use policy that directs development to more dense, walkable, village and urban areas, and moves away from "zoning" to more of a form-based approach. In the community, I'm passionate about access to quality education, both university and vocational, non-profits that promote access to the outdoors and groups that promote responsible land use and economic development while protecting open spaces and natural resources. Time spent outdoors is an important part of my life- skiing, hiking, mountain biking, boating (both people and motor-powered) and fishing are all important past times. I'm also a lover of food, live music and great beer, which is why I love my adopted home of Portland, ME so much. I'm also a casual car nut, so you may find me tinkering with my latest barn find on a weekend in the summer.
