  For the last 15 years, I have been working as an Electrical Superintendent and Project Manager on government projects. I am currently finishing two projects in Alaska, an electrical service upgrade for the main water treatment plant for Anchorage, AK and a security upgrade for the Bethel, AK airport. Both projects have been delayed by government action (or inaction) so neither has a clear finish date. In gaps between those projects, I am finishing a home renovation in Wasilla, AK. I started the home renovation to teach my 3 teenage children construction technology. My wife and I want to relocate to the Huntsville area for several reasons -- primarily warmer weather, proximity to family, better educational opportunities, and real estate opportunities. In preparation for the move, I intend to apply for (and acquire) AL electrical administrator and home inspector licenses. I've considered 3 options for continued employment: 1. Electrical contracting - ideally work beside an ethical contractor with a view to eventually purchase his business and bring my son as an apprentice. As an electrical employee, I'm more likely to qualify for financing. 2. Home inspections or appraisals -- ideally as an employee. (I'm willing to work for free for a couple years to break into appraisals) 3. Flip houses -- ideally in conjunction with a W2 job (above) but likely sufficient to support us if other options fail Madison Electric
