Finance provided me with an excellent grounding in how to run a business, understanding the importance of managing a cost base whilst ensuring appropriate investment to drive the top line sales growth. However, my roles in Market Access are the ones that have shaped my passion in ensuring people around the world have access to medicines, that would improve their health and wellbeing. These roles helped me understand the challenge of striking a balance between innovation and driving sales growth with an ambition to enable greater access to medicines. Pharma companies are key players in the efforts to achieve this, but they cannot do it alone. I am proud to contribute to Gilead, GSK and ViiV Healthcare’s efforts, companies that create sustainable and mutually beneficial partnerships with local governments and other organisations like the Medicines Patent Pool, to make the difference. A clear purpose is hugely important to me as is building strong and high performing teams. I take a lot of personal satisfaction from bringing talented individuals together and in creating the right environment and support for them to develop as individuals and as a team, something I have had the pleasure to do both within my Market Access and Commercial roles.
