The commission was established by the United Nations Security Council to provide a mechanism for countries, businesses and individuals to obtain reparations from Iraq for damages suffered as a result of Iraq’s invasion and occupation of Kuwait. I served on a panel that has been responsible for hearing and resolving over 48 billion in claims by governments against Iraq for environmental and natural resource damages resulting from the war. Since retiring as partner from Skadden Arps, I have continued to represent pro bono clients in litigation matters. In particular, I successfully represented plaintiffs in separate class actions against public entities to require them to make the public rights-of-way owned or maintained by public entities accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.
