He started out as an intern and worked his way up to head of the company. It was a journey that took over 30yrs. As CEO he flourished as the company soared in sales and in stock value. I soon realized that even the lead guy is an employee and when things got tough, he was fired. Executive leaders are known to sacrifice themselves and their families for the company. They miss kids games, they miss anniversaries, they go where they are asked to go, and they go when they are asked to go. Sometimes that means moving their family to another state or another country. As CEO this leader sacrificed more than most for the company he loved yet he was let go. This made me realize that if someone who performed as well and sacrificed as much could be let go then I could be too. I wanted more, I wanted more control of my fate and my family’s fate. If you want more, then you must become more, and that is what I focus on every day. Today I work hard on my job and even harder on myself. My goal is to put myself in a place where I set my own time, I determine my own income, I provide my family with the medical care of the top 5%, I put family and faith first and everything else fall where I think they should. Alone you can go fast, but with a team you can go even farther.
