In every job I've worked, I have always tried to make it a point to develop my knowledge and understanding about that business. That started quite simply when I began working for K-Mart (Remember those?) in the early 2010s. Even though I was in high school during this time, I made it a point to understand what went wrong with them and how it could have been avoided. This continued throughout my time in my undergraduate program, where I was able to apply my learning to something I really enjoyed- business! I enjoyed the fact that I was able to tailor my learning to subjects that piqued my interest the most, and also where I determined that I wasn't too bad at sales either. When I graduated from Emporia State University, I knew that I wanted to try to put these things together. That's where my first professional job at GEICO came in. I began as a part of the Management Development Program (MDP) where I would learn all of the necessities to become a supervisor- this included licensing, taking calls, and completing leadership training. Through successful completion of the MDP program, I have worked as a supervisor in several different capacities including training, mentorship, and creation of office-wide initiatives. This brings us to today- I've continued to learn new things every single day and take on additional responsibilities.
