  Hello! I'm a sixth-year doctoral candidate of the Laboratory for Oxide Research and Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. My research is focused on the investigation of ferroelectricity and related phenomena in complex oxide thin films growth via pulsed laser deposition. My most recent material of interest is the unique ferroelectric fluorite, HfO2. I believe that there is more to my identity as a growing academic than research, alone - PhD holders are also uniquely positioned to supporting the growth and training of generations of future scientists and engineers. As such, I endeavor to grow as a mentor and educator for underrepresented students in STEM through a number of activities, including holding leadership positions in my university's Black Graduate Student Association, supporting undergraduate learning and research opportunities, and instructing pre-college programs during summer months.
