  What a loaded question :-) I sometimes think my first role in IT started in 93/94 as a young introvert teen, unplugging/replugging the 28.8kbs modem when it died what felt like every 5 mins. You kids today will never know what is what like in the beginning, BBI. (Before Broadband Interwebs) In reality though, it started even earlier with video games. I’ve always enjoyed the solitude and focus of games. I suppose I was always destined to end up in the technology sector. I got into IT Sales at a time mentally where I’d failed so much at other “sales” I didn’t think I’d make it initially. That natural introvert in me isn’t conducive to Sales, I had to find my extrovert self. Through hard work, determination, perseverance, and a couple lucky breaks along the way I finally found success. Make no mistake, I came for the money but somewhere along the way that became secondary. Something else became more important, the relationships. Not just the ones with my coworkers, but the customers, the partners, the community too. Without all those great people along the way it’s a certainty I wouldn’t be doing this 10+ years later. It’s a lot of fun working with like minded individuals. It’s what helps makes this job fun because let’s be honest, calling people all day who don’t know you and don’t want to talk to you sucks. I no longer just do this for my own living, I have a family I’m responsible for so our priorities are always changing but we must always value our relationships.
