K. Ramesh’s Expertise Dr. Ramesh is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at CSU Northridge and the Director of the SfS2 - SECURE for Student Success (Strengthening Equitable Culturally Responsive Environments for Student Success) program supported by a Title V grant from the US Department of Education's Developing Hispanic Serving Institutions (DHSI) division. Earlier he served as Founding Director and Lead Principal Investigator of the nationally recognized “Bridging the Gap: Enhancing AIMS2 for Student Success” program (2021 UEDA Award of Excellence, 2019 Example of Excelencia) supported by consecutive multi-year grants from the US Department of Education’s HSI-STEM program. He is the Past President of ABET, the global accreditation organization (https://www.abet.org). Dr. Ramesh served as the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at California State University, Northridge from 2006 - 2017. Prior to joining CSUN he was Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at California State University, Sacramento, where he was the Department Chair from 1994 to 2006. He served as the PI of the nationally acclaimed original five year AIMS2 (www.ecs.csun.edu/aims2) program to graduate underrepresented minorities in engineering and computer science which was initially supported with a five year 5.5 Million grant from the US Department of Education in 2011; and was selected for a sequel five year grant of 6 Million in 2016. Dr. Ramesh has served on the IEEE Board of Directors, IEEE Educational Activities Board, IEEE Publication Services and Products Board, IEEE Awards Board, IEEE-HKN Board of Governors, IEEE Fellows Committee, ABET Board of Directors, and ABET Board of Delegates. He served as ABET President in 2022-23 after serving as ABET Director of the Engineering Area Delegation from 2019-21. He was the 2016-17 IEEE Vice-President for Educational Activities, as well as the IEEE-HKN President for 2016. In 2014 Ramesh was invited by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) to host one of the four national White House STEM workshops at CSU Northridge to broaden participation of minorities in the STEM disciplines, remove barriers, and improve student graduation rates- especially in engineering and computer science. Dr. Ramesh is an IEEE Fellow recognized for his contributions to "entrepreneurship in engineering education" and has devoted over three and a half decades serving students and faculty in the California State University system at Sacramento State and California State University, Northridge . #IEEE, #ABET
