  My work career began first in administration and accounting and grew to include human resource duties, along with taxes and payroll. When that was no longer a challenge, I reached for my next goal: becoming a teacher. Many times during written communication, tone is lost and an email can come across as harsh. I believe it is key to keep this in mind, especially when dealing with teens. My most recent position has allowed me to research best practices and given me the freedom to make improvements to certain policies as needed with the goal of improving attendance and graduation rates, while decreasing drop out rates. We have seen an improvement in all 3 areas after just one year. I’ve recently taken on a new position with Stride & am excited to have a new challenge again, while helping to bring the team together, while redefining our policies to have our best year yet! In the past, I have presented on a national level for K12, inc. during their Promising Practices events with great success. I’m always looking for ways to improve and add to my current skillset. This includes learning more about Excel (tips & tricks, higher-level formulas, data analysis), researching current trends and what works for other schools, and learning to use new technology (shelf bot) to automate tasks that used to take several hours of manpower.
