When I'm not studying IT fundamentals I am working a full time job managing a department of 8 security officers for a condominium. I feel the biggest key to success in this role is my ability to effectively communicate with my team and my ability to build rapport with the residents of the condo. I remember when I first started working at the condominium I had absolutely no previous security experience and was just meant to be a fill in officer. I knew I wanted to be there permanently, so I made sure to learn every policy and procedure allowing me to deal with the wide array of situations that came up over the years. Soon I became know as someone to be relied upon. I also took pride in my customer service. I made sure that the residents of the condo were comfortable with me and felt that I truly empathized with any issue they brought to my attention. In less than two and half years I became the security department manager. This is why I feel so exited about jumping into the world of IT. I've already proven to myself that I can go from knowing nothing about a industry to being a leader within that industry. When I'm not typing commands into shells or managing the team, I'm writing jokes and occasionally telling those jokes on stages.
