Krishna Kulkarni’s Expertise Highlights: ► Leading expert on the SQL standard ► Actively participated in both ANSI and ISO SQL committees; authored over 300 proposals ► Led the US delegation to the ISO SQL committee for over 18 years ► Strong interpersonal skills, able to effectively convey the standard-speak to developers/implementors. I am a leading expert on the SQL standard, the predominant query language standard for relational and object-relational database systems. I have over 25 years experience in enhancing the ANSI/ISO SQL standard with several important capabilities, including temporal extensions, support for XML data, advanced OLAP functions, User-defined Data Types, User-Defined Routines, Triggers, etc. During my career, I represented four major DBMS vendors: IBM, Informix, Tandem, and DEC. I also served as the International Representative from USA to ISO. I also participated in ISO/IEC JTC1 Study Group on Big Data. I was the author or a co-author of nearly 300 technical proposals that introduced major new functionality into the SQL standard over the last 25 years. Most recently, I was a coauthor of the proposals that introduced support for JSON data and Polymorphic Table Functions into the SQL standard (which are still under development), features crucial for supporting Big Data and Advanced Analytical functionality in SQL. I have strong writing skills, having published articles in several technical journals. I have also co-authored a book on object-oriented databases. A list of my publications is available in a separate document. I am open to full-time or part-time positions focusing on the design and standardization of high-level query languages for the currently-dominant relational systems as well as emerging NoSQL, Big Data, and cloud-based database systems. I am also open to short-term or on-going consulting opportunities in the same topics. I can be contacted at [email protected]
