Kun Shi’s Expertise Founder and Director of the Wildlife Institute (WI) at Beijing Forestry University (BFU) and Eco-Bridge Continental (EBC). Besides, he is also working with IUCN’s Cats Specialist Group in formal membership. KS was awarded PhD degree by Tokyo University of Agricultural & Technology in 2000, and worked as Postdoctoral Researcher at the National Grassland Research Centre of Japan 2000-2005 and PD Researcher of the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (WildCRU) at University of Oxford 2005-2006. KS majors in wildlife ecology and conservation and presently head over ten projects relating to conservation of big cats including snow leopard, leopard and Asian elephant, and KS is also interested in human-wildlife conflict in context with biodiversity and ecosystem management. KS is charging the Executive Director/Secretary General of the China Cats Specialist Group in China Mammalogical Society. As the Principal Expert of Feline Species for State Forestry Administration of China (SFA), KS is leading expert commissions of Panthera species and Asian elephant as technical advisory for wildlife management department of SFA China. KS and his team in WI undertake SFA projects for conservation and research of snow leopard in its all range areas of China every year since 2007. He is also a core member of the Specialist Group for Selecting Re-wilding Sites for South China Tiger designated by SFA in 2010, and now he is leading projects of Indo-Chinese Tiger for population estimation, habitat restoration and integrated conservation planning in its range areas. KS speaks good Japanese and English, and has published more than 50 scientific papers and 8 books up to now. He supervised 3 PhD students who have graduated and currently serves as supervisor of 4 international PhD students and 10 master students at the College of Nature Conservation in BFU.
