He started his career as an assistant engineer designing transmission lines at Florida Power and Light where he held various positions within the transmission organization including transmission engineering, design and system development.In 1995, Swanson joined Entergy as the Manager of Fossil and Transmission system development and held several positions within the IT organization including: Transmission IT Account Manager, Director of Distribution Systems and, after a short stint with SAIC as part of Entergy’s IT outsourcing, returned to Entergy as BUCIO of Entergy Wholesale Operations. He is currently the VP of Power Operations Information Services at Calpine where he has been since 2009 and is responsible for Calpine’s 93 plant fleet’s IT applications and infrastructure portfolio.Swanson graduated from the Florida International University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Florida. He received his Masters of Business Administration degree from Tulane University in 2001.
