My experience in the schooling sector began in 2015, where I had my first professional opportunity to work with and liaise among school-going children enrolled in an afterschool program as well as the teaching staff. For over 4 years, I held this Afterschool Program Site Coordinator role and learned immensely while delivering effective management for a variety of activities and events while also initiating practices that have since led to community building and bringing together the program stakeholders. Speaking of non-academic liaising and program management, I have vastly developed a skillset that makes me a versatile professional with proven aptitude in managing student and family interventions, event management, operations management, and taking initiatives. For instance, while looking after my responsibilities as the Afterschool Program Site Director, I initiated a newsletter to keep our students’ families updated on the afterschool program activities. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with – and learning from – excellent teams of educators and administrators, and I am immensely grateful for the opportunities I got. In the future, I want to continue pursuing bigger challenges and grow as a professional liaison and leader. The leadership skills I developed during these years, combined with my innate athletic abilities, led to my involvement in the basketball at Boston High, where I also worked as the Assistant Coach for a while.
