Lance Thomas’s Expertise I am a middle school band director with 5 years professional teaching experience. I also have experience teaching with high school drum lines and marching bands during their marching contest seasons. Currently I teach and assist with middle school beginner classes, conduct the Concert band, Percussion Ensemble, and Steel Drum Band. This includes rehearsals during and after school, as well as performances during and after school. I was a coordinator for District band auditions for Region 18 South Zone, and the coordinator for the Austin ISD Steel Drum Festival. I am a highly self motivated teacher and employee who can be counted on to take the initiative to have a successful band and campus. I know that the student and their education comes first, and that learning is not just for the students but for the teachers as well. I believe collaboration is key in being a successful teacher and band director. Collaboration not just within my department but across the campus and the district.
