As an individual, Lara has taken pride in her own survivorship efforts and cycles 10,000km every year to manage the long-term side effects from cancer treatment and prevention surgeries. Lara is invested in the community, and is a volunteer peer mentor with Immerman’s Angels, an active board member with AVI Community & Health services, a patient ambassador with AYACAN, and a research advocate with FORCE. Lara aims to bridge the divide between patients and the healthcare system, identifying and strengthening solutions that will support the sustainability of patient-centered public healthcare.
