  I started out as an industrial PhD student in 1980 and got my PhD on “Metabolites of Felodipine – Analytical Methods for Quantitative and Qualitative studies” in 1985. In 2003 I was appointed adjunct associate professor of biotransformation at Göteborg’s University. I am an expert on LC-MS(MS), use of H-3 and C-14 in metabolism studies, CoA mediated metabolism of carboxylic acid drugs, MIST, animal and human ADME studies, and in vitro methodology for biotransformation studies. I monitor in-house and out-sourced DMPK work, mentor and train colleagues etc. My experience, however, is so far limited to “small molecule” drugs. Our research is now focusing on various “new modality drugs”, e.g., oligonucleotide drugs, targeted conjugated oligonucleotides etc. Hence, the dominant focus of my work for the remainder of my career will be on the biotransformation of these drug types.
