Fitting a large population into a tiny land mass requires innovation, and Laura’s international team designed a public housing policy to help young adults become independent earlier and save for eventual property ownership. The successful project was presented at Hong Kong City University, and Laura was selected to relate her experience to a major donor on behalf of her college. Her innovative graduate thesis, “Doctors and Diapers: Promoting Sustainable Practices through Pediatric Healthcare” was one of her department’s first theses on sustainability practices in healthcare. Laura researched and created an informational brochure that was distributed to new parents in a pediatric clinic, linking environmental issues to health outcomes, and recommending sustainable practices for families. Through her work she became the first recipient of the Key Green Solutions scholarship. Laura is an active volunteer, tutored refugees in English, and taught a weekly Sunday school class. She has travelled to 4 continents and is passionate about the arts. She looks forward to a career in procurement, always with an eye to sustainable practices.
