Lynton Jaques’s Expertise Dr AL (Lynton) Jaques was formerly Chief Scientist at Geoscience Australia, Australia's national geoscience research and information agency. Prior to that he held a number of senior positions at Geoscience Australia and its predessors AGSO and BMR. He has had more than 30 experience in undertaking and leading goverment geoscience research and mapping projects in support of mineral resource exploration in Australia. He has led and undertaken several assessments of mineral resource potential. In 2009 he led the Australian Energy Resource Assessment, an integrated scientific and economic analysis of Australia's non-renewable and renewable energy resources undertaken by Geoscience Australia and ABARE. He has published and presented widely on Australian diamond deposits (Argyle and Ellendale and kimberlites, lamproites and other alkaline rocks. He has also published on Australian mineral exploration, discovery and resources. He has also published on the petrology and geochemistry of ophiolites and island arc rocks in Papua New Guinea, and experimental studies on basalt genesis as part of his PhD studies. He has been a member of committees reviewing government geoscience programs in Australia and overseas (Canada, Mexico), been a panel member of university departmental reviews, and been a member of various university and CRC advisory committees, He has been a consultant as project director and technical specialist for several overseas geoscience mapping and traning projects.
