Manjit Kang’s Expertise Dr. Manjit S. Kang received his Ph.D. degree in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the University of Missouri (1977), M.A. (Botany) (Southern Illinois University (SIU)-Carbondale), M.S. (Plant Genetics) (SIU-Edwardsville), and B.Sc. (Agri. & Animal Husbandry) degree with honors from Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana (India) in 1968. He is an Adjunct Professor (Plant Pathology) at Kansas State University. He served as Vice-Chancellor (CEO) of the Punjab Agricultural University at Ludhiana (April 2007 to April 2011). He previously served for 21 years as Professor of Quantitative Genetics at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge (USA). He served as a Sugarcane Geneticist at the University of Florida (1981-1986). He served as Research Station Manager and Senior Plant Breeder at Cargill, Inc., St. Peter, Minnesota (1977-1979). He is a Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and Crop Science Society of America. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Crop Improvement and Technical Editor of Crop Science. In 1999, he was selected as a U.S. Fulbright Senior Scholar (teaching award) to Malaysia. Dr Kang has edited &/or authored 13 books, including Genotype-by-Environment Interaction (1996), Quantitative Genetics, Genomics and Plant Breeding (2002), Crop Improvement: Challenges in the Twenty-First Century (2002), Handbook of Formulas for Plant Geneticists and Breeder (2003), GGE Biplot Analysis (2003), Genetic and Production Innovations in Field Crop Technology (2005), Agricultural and Environmental Sustainability (2007), Breeding Major Food Staples (2007), Water and Agricultural Sustainability Strategies (2010), Combating Climate Change: An Agricultural Perspective (2013), Punjab Agriculture (2015), and Quantitative Genetics, Genomics and Plant Breeding (2nd end., CABI). He has published 167 refereed journal articles, 40+ book chapters/encyclopedia essays, and 135 other technical publications. He has lectured on quantitative genetics in Hungary, Malaysia, China, Philippines, Nigeria, India.
