  I've had a varied and interesting career starting with 8 years in the Royal Navy Submarine Service, a year or so working for the Ministry of Defence, 26 years as a Police Officer retiring as an Inspector in March 2022. I now work as a Project Stage Manager with South Wales Police and currently attached to the Control Room Systems project which is helping to bring in a new Command and Control System fully integrated with telephony and radio for both South Wales and Gwent Police. I was also co-ordinating coverage testing for the Emergency Services Network, which will eventually replace the Airwaves Radio Network. My previous Police Officer role as a Critical Incident Manager involved managing high levels or risk and required strong Leadership and Organisational skills. Another previous role was Project Lead within the forces DigitalServices Division where I led on 3 Projects involving Digital Evidence enhancements to the organisation. I have years of experience managing staff in various roles within policing and most recently teams of staff following my promotion to Inspector. I was a nationally trained police hostage/crisis negotiator with additional skills and experience in this area and protecting vulnerable people within our communities. I have also been heavily involved in a new scheme involving young people within policing (Police Youth Volunteers) and have represented the force at national level in this area and also qualified as a Child Safeguarding Lead.
