Mark Wieszyk’s Expertise Diverse and extensive experience in crime investigation management within the South Australia Police including the following achievements: Conducted an extensive review of the Special Crimes Investigation Branch and then implemented the new Public Protection Branch as the OC which tripled the branch size and combined the management of complex sex crimes, child exploitation through the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET), victim management, Australian national child offender register (ANCOR), domestic violence, Multi Agency Protection Service (MAPS) and offender management. Headed up the SAPOL response to two Royal Commissions (National and State) on Child Protection and gave evidence on two occasions to the National RC. Conducted an extensive review of the Commercial and Electronic Crime Branch as the OC managing major fraud and electronic crime investigations, confiscations, forensic accountants and unexplained wealth. As the OC Commercial and Electronic Crime Branch introduced Operation Disrepair which saved the community of South Australia millions of dollars leaving SA borders to scammers. This was recognised by the Heads of Australian Governments and the Law, Crime and Community Safety Council for which I received a Recognition of Excellent Award at Parliament House Canberra in 2015. As OC Forensic Services Branch managed forensic response, fingerprints, DNA, photographics and forensic training for SAPOL. Substantial experience with the development of policy and processes in the collection and administration of DNA samples including a significant input into the development of new forensic procedure legislation. Developed the South Australia Police Cyber Strategy 2012 – 2015, the first of its kind in Australia. Seconded to the Australasian Centre for Policing Research to research and help write an Australasian Electronic Crime Strategy. Headed up SAPOL's team for the management of the Enterprise Bargaining Process for South Australia Police EB Agreement 2011 as the OC of the Industrial Relations Branch. Participated in exchange programs with the Australian Federal Police and Singapore Police to broaden experience in federal and international policing. Tertiary Qualifications: Master of Business specialising in computer crime and computer evidence.
