I has been involved in the IT world since before finishing school in 1980 dabbling with Amstrad, Apple IIE and CAT computers. I built my first computer based around the RCA 1802. Popular Mechanics magazine played a large part in this. I started dabbling in electronics at this stage and submitted a couple of articles to Australian magazines. The first was published in EA magazine in 1979.. This was also when I started to get into computers a lot more, the first commercial computer I developed software for had an 8 inch floppy drive, and could display 16 colours on its massive 12 inch display. This was the year I was introduced to the revolutionary Apple IIE, PDP 9 and PDP 11 card readers, and the HP 3000 mainframe at the CIAE (now Central Queensland University). Atlantic Digital
