Matthew Hakanson’s Expertise I am a mechanical engineer with a newfound interest and passion for powertrain calibration. Currently I am a Torque security calibration engineer with Stellantis releasing calibrations for the 2.0T Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale. Within my current scope of work I have a strong understanding of powertrain controls and software troubleshooting as I have to regularly communicate with my software/controls team to troubleshoot and improve powertrain software relevant to calibration. I have familiarity with vehicles from a electrical system perspective as I own responsibility for CAN communication diagnostics as well as diagnostics for multiple engine sensors. This requires me to understand which components both internal and external to powertrain are not acting as desired, reporting to the respective component owner, and working to a solution. This understanding is expanded through my work with a variety of test mules and pre-production cars where these interactions change as the development process evolves. I enjoy travel as I have supported multiple development trips to hot, cold, and high altitude environments where I test the vehicle to a design verification plan I develop. In my 2 short years at Stellantis I have led two cold weather development trips as well as develop production level calibrations for two new vehicle programs. This said, with my newfound interest and skill in calibration, I am always looking for new ways to expand my knowledge and acquire new skills pertaining to powertrain calibration.
