Matthew Hart’s Expertise Currently the Head of the AppSec team and Red Team at Canva - focussed on building and developing a team to deliver traditional security services (e.g. pentesting and other post-production security services), "shift left" services across the entire SDLC (e.g. threat modelling, design reviews, rapid risk assessments, and more!), vulnerability management (SAST, DAST, Bug Bounty, etc), and security awareness and training (e.g. security champions, security awareness and development). The Red Team is focussed on identifying ways of hardening Canva against threat actors, and helping improve Canva's ability to respond to these threats. Passionate about delivering security with organisations - as I truly believe that is how to win at delivering the most security value to products, and customers! Quick TL;DR about me: ➡ Currently Live in Adelaide, Australia ➡ Love remote work ➡ Passionate about delivering security value to customers, as well as teaching the next generation of security engineers! ➡ Partnered with Adelaide University to build out and deliver COMP SCI 3309 as the sole course co-ordinator and lecturer over 2018/2019 (https://www.adelaide.edu.au/course-outlines/109378/1/winter/2018/) before handing all materials over to the university to grow and expand. ➡ Created the Atlassian Bug Bounty Program https://www.atlassian.com/blog/announcements/why-we-are-letting-60k-bugcrowd-security-researchers-ethically-hack-us and won the 2018 and 2019 "Buggy Award" for the best Bugcrowd Bug Bounty Program (https://www.bugcrowd.com/the-third-annual-buggy-awards-winners-announced/, https://www.bugcrowd.com/blog/2019-buggy-award-winners/). ➡ Previously also owned the security of Bitbucket Server, and Bitbucket Pipelines ➡ Moved to Focus on the Ecosystem in 2019 for the fun challenge of having multiple security stakeholders (Atlassian teams, Ecosystem Engineering, and External Marketplace Partners) ➡ Successfully created the "Ecosystem Platform Security Program" - focussed on shifting left, and delivering security through all stages of the SDLC to our stakeholders and partners ➡ Delivered organisational buy-in to build a team around the Ecosystem Platform Security Program, and pivoted into the engineering manager role - leading a team of Ecosystem Security Engineers ➡ Leader of the AppSec team at Canva. Outside of work I love games in all their forms - but have a particular love for boardgames, and older PC games (Warcraft 3, Starcraft, Portal, CS, Quake, C&C Generals - and more!) Wanna know more?
