Subsequently, in the DRC I worked for a Glencore mine as an expatriate supervisor underground and in the KOV open pit (the largest high-grade copper resource in the world), managing large teams of nationals to achieve production requirements. Thereafter I took a role as the Project Manager and Acting Mine Manager for an open pit Copper Mine in Botswana I was part of the senior management team that completed the (only successful) RTO on AIM between Alecto Minerals and Cradle Arc in January last year, for the purposes of bringing the Mowana Copper mine back to market. In parallel to this role, I also held the position of Mining Manager for PenMin, a consultancy based in Johannesburg providing underground and open pit technical services as a Mining Engineering Consultant, with duties including completion of feasibility studies, mine design and scheduling and contract structuring. I was also responsible for setting the business strategy, business development and expanding the international client portfolio.
