  I am a Marine in the Field of Public Affairs. At my first duty station I did Television and radio broadcasting and at the end of my year there I had gone from being a cameraman all the way up to News Director for what was rated as the Best Local Television Newscast in the Marine Corps for 1999. I went from there to Marine Forces Reserve hedquarters in New Orleans, where I was the Community Relations Chief for every reserve unit in the nation, as well as a journalist and photographer for Continental Marine Magazine. Then, I moved to Indianapolis to be an MPAR (Marketing Public Affairs Rep) for Recruiting Station Indianapoolis, which is responsible for almost all of Indiana and some of eastern Illinois. Here, I have done Marketing, Advertising, PR, Media Relations, and historical documentation for my command. I have no shop of Marines that work for me here, and am a one-man show, as are all MPARs. I do this all with a budget of about 15,000, and our unit kicks the heck out of our competition (which would be the 3 other, much better funded, branches of the armed forces and the Coast Guard). Oorah! Since I have been here I have maded myself into a master of obtaining free advertising and publicity. In this fiscl year alone I have obtained for my command over 50,000 worth of television advertising that we had to pay nothing for, and in early 2006, when I get out of the Marine Corps, I hope to do the same for a good company looking for a hard-working person who takes pride in his job.
