He is driving the merger of Eurostar and Thalys, unprecedented operation to integrate two high-speed railway companies. He leads the definition of the new business strategy, oversees customer experience, manages the brand platform, and defines the forthcoming commercial offer. He joins Eurostar from Thalys (€550 million, 700 employees, 4 countries) where he was Deputy CEO for 3+ years. In this role, Matthieu built a competitive business strategy, tailored the commercial offer to new customer needs and steered commercial negotiations with international partners. Matthieu is known for his ability to foster strategic alignment and engage teams in complex and uncertain environments. He began his career in 2009 working for the French Government as a judge, where he developed expertise in concessions and public procurement law. He then served as Chief of Staff to the President of the French National Assembly. In this role, he helped negotiate major project legislation, led institutional reforms and honed his ability to lead large-scale transformation. In 2017, he was tapped by the Chairman of SNCF Group (€35.1 bn, 275 000 employees, 120 countries) to come aboard as his Chief of Staff during the French Railway Reform. In this context, he worked with the CEO to reform the future company, negotiate with public authorities, and define business strategy. Matthieu holds degrees from Sciences Po and ENA and is a lecturer at Sciences Po Paris. He was ranked “Top 100 French Economic Leaders Under 40” by the Figaro Choiseul during 3 consecutive years.
