His specific research interests are the long-term benefits of outdoor adventure programs and the history of outdoor adventure education programs in Asia and Southeast Asia. Currently he is heading a 7 year long-term evaluative research project in partnership with the United World College of Southeast Asia, Singapore. The project is investigating the contributions of UWCSEA's Outdoor Education Program to the student learning profile at the College for grades 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11. He teaches courses in outdoor and adventure education, experiential education, ethics, and risk management. He has been involved with outdoor adventure education programs for over 19 years and has lived and worked in the U.S.A., Sabah, East Malaysia and Hong Kong as well as travelled extensively in Asia and Southeast Asia.
