I teach front line first responders and support staff Critical Incident Stress Management and Peer Support. I also utilize a crisis response/therapy dog for instruction and response to incidents. I served as a DELPHI panelist on the Law Enforcement Family Readiness Initiative. We created a program that assists all levels of law enforcement agencies from rural, urban, suburban areas to prepare for and better understand the strains that LEO's and their families will be under in a disaster. From natural event to terrorist attack. This procedure came from the DOJ And Bureau of Justice Assistance Research grant and was outlined in the FOP National Journal Feb. 2014 (Pgs,16-18) a 350,000+ member organization. I am also privileged to serve as Chaplain of FOP Lodge 176 and the Withlacootchie Regional Search and Rescue Team. I served as a Detective, New York City Police Department. My final assignment was in the Employee Management Division, Early Intervention Unit. Following 9/11/2001, I was the primary charge person for CISM (on the peer support level) of all NYPD Detectives (specialty units and the Detective Bureau). I served on the board and remain a member of the Police Self support Group, this group represents injured, disabled and catastrophically ill LEO’s. I served on the board of the NYS Fraternal order of Police, State level, where I represented 30,000 law enforcement professionals combining my positions of managerial, advisory and supervisory roles. The last five years at the NYPD, my responsibilities involved assistance and management of 50,000 +members of the law enforcement community; including interdepartmental co-operation. Public speaking for all levels of media, union management, peer and survivor support. Please remember that as a Ret. Det. suffering with disabilities, I understand the limits and frustrations of severe and permanent injuries. it is through my experiences that I try and assist others who may be affected or are struggling with their own job related issues.
