Mike Bartlett’s Expertise After 35+years in the aviation industry since starting in April 1984, I have finally invested in the next chapter of my life after trying to retire twice. I guess the third time is the charm. I worked for Cessna Aircraft in Wichita for two years and Martin Marietta (now Lockheed-Martin) in Orlando for four and a half years before coming to Boeing to work the 777 program in 1990. I have a strong and balanced engineering background that started in design, was in the MRB world for a while and enjoyed being a strong customer advocate and helping to deal with resolving in-service issues. I accumulated 24 years of experience on the 737 program working systems, propulsion and structures issues and was fortunate to participate in and lead cross-functional multi-tiered teams in addressing customer needs, including my role as a 737NG Deputy Fleet Support Chief for over 8 years . I got to know the 737 platform very well across all ATA's. After 11 months of retirement from Boeing the first time July ‘16, I took the opportunity to work for GKN Aerospace in Sumner, WA at their new state of the art manufacturing center for the 737MAX winglet. My roles included liaison work, some manufacturing engineering work, some tool design, technical writing....and taking on lots of little projects to improve efficiency and productivity. After two years at GKN, I decided I wanted to go back to Boeing for a short period to help get the 737MAX production line healthy again. I spent a little over a year back inside and in December of ‘20, I turned in my badge for good. I had a great ride in the aviation / aerospace industry, met and worked with a lot of wonderful, smart and talented people. I traveled the world supporting the 737 fleet and made a great living. I’m now spending time in my wood shop and have started an overhaul of our kitchen with new cabinetry and a redesigned layout. Diana and I plan to travel the US in our camper and also will spend time on the Puget Sound and Canadian Islands on our boat.
