Mohamed Jaber’s Expertise I obtained my PhD thesis from the University of Bordeaux (1993) working on the expression of neuroactive molecules in the brain with a focus on dopamine neurotransmission. During my PhD, I also worked at the Karolinska Institute-Sweden where I participated to the cloning and characterization of a novel neurotrophic factor receptor (TrkC). I underwent my 3 years post-doc (1993-1995) at Duke University-USA (Marc G. Caron and Robert J. Lefkowitz, Nobel prize 2002) during which I worked on the the dopamine transporter and the beta-adrenergic receptor kinase-1 gene and demonstrated their crucial role in regulating neurotransmission. I was recruited as a CNRS researcher (1995) at Bordeaux before becoming a Professor at the University of Poitiers (2002). From 2006 to 2010 I was the leader of a CNRS research team working on the physiopathology of disorders associated with the malfunctioning of the dopaminergic system such as Parkinson disease and addiction. Since 2012, I am the founder and head of an INSERM Neuroscience research Unit composed of 3 teams. I was a board member of the national scientific committee of the CNRS, the Neurosciences INSERM committee and the French Neurosciences Society. I was also president and member of HCERES committees in Neurosciences, head of a scientific council at the Fondation de France, a member of the scientific council of the Fondation pour la recherche Médicale and co-founder and general secretary of the French Brain Council. At the local level, I am the Inserm scientific referent. Throughout my career I have published more than 100 papers on the topic of dopamine neurotransmission in journals such as Nature, Science, Nature Neuroscience, PNAS and Neuron. My H factor is 53, several of my papers were cited in faculty 1000 Medicine and faculty 1000 Biology.
