  I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in Human Development and Family Studies in May of 2010. In the summer of 2004, I worked with doctors and counselors in attending to medical needs in a small Peruvian village on the Amazon River as a volunteer for YouthLink. I also completed an internship in 2009 working as a psychiatric technician at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute. . I have been a substitute teacher for Granite School District since 2007 until present, teaching a variety of subjects. My experiences teaching with the individuals from all walks of life (watching them change, grow, and learn) have been very rewarding. I worked at Eva Carlston Academy, a private boarding school located in Salt lake City, as a psychiatric home teacher. I was able to work hands-on with adolescent girls that were struggling with an array of mental health/personal problems in a private, therapeutic boarding school setting. I worked in collaboration with psychiatrist, doctors, and therapist to help these young women develop the necessary life skills to graduate from the academy with a promising future by utilizing the skills I helped them gain from a variety of skills that I taught them using my advanced college-based knowledge.
