Natalie Macon’s Expertise Serving patients and health care providers is key for me, and throughout my career I have done so by leading others in the development and launch of patient-centric solutions for unmet / undermet clinical needs. I decided to become a biomedical engineer in high school because I wanted to channel my passion for science into repairing the human body in order to help people overcome debilitating injury or disease. My research expertise for medical device, drug-device and biologics-device products includes the areas of interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, orthopedics, cardiovascular surgery, critical care nephrology, and plastic/reconstructive surgery. I have a strong foundation in design thinking, R&D group management, preclinical and clinical studies, business plan development, technology assessment for L&A, and white space exploration. As an R&D executive and STEM professions advocate, I believe that career development is fundamental to employee happiness and overall business success, and apply best practices to help people attain their goals. As an educator, I enjoy mentoring and teaching students (middle school, high school, undergrad and grad students at Rutgers University), and volunteering as a judge at FIRST robotic competitions. Specialties: • Biomedical engineering, biomaterials • Program management: early stage R&D, clinical research, new product development and launch • R&D Operations site leadership • Structural heart disease: percutaneous transcatheter mitral valve repair • Human factors engineering and usability • Regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy • Interventional cardiology: guide catheters, stents, biologics delivery, embolic protection • Orthopedics: ACL repair, cell-seeded collagen for cartilage repair • Customer needs translation into product attributes & procedures: JOC, VOC, DEx • Preclinical & clinical study design & analysis for 510K, CE Mark, IDE
