Nicholas Pinto’s Expertise I started my career in electronics in 1987 while in school I assembled, tested, and repaired electronic door locks. After graduation I took a position as a repair technician. I worked on everything from simple temperature controls to Programmable Logic Controls to high power motor and robotic controllers from there I started working for a welding control manufacturer where I ran the circuit board testing group. Then I Installed pneumatic tube systems in hospitals and did field service repairs. In 1998 I began supporting the automotive industry first as a contract employee for a airbag manufacturer. Then in December 1998 I started my own technical service company until 2003. In 2001 I started working (contract) as a research technician at General Motors in the vehicle build center. I instrumented vehicles with proto-types and data acquisition systems. In 2007 I was hired direct as a senior research technician for the Smart Materials group. My work was mainly focused around shape memory alloy and IR heating fabric applications and research. I contributed in creating intellectual property, designing, building, and maintaining our array of prototype devices. My duties also include obtaining, instrumenting, demonstrating, and disposing of our research vehicle fleet. I create and give presentations pertaining to our proto-type systems and intellectual property. in late 2019 I transfered to the powertrain research group. Here I am supporting work converting internal combustion engine dynos to electrification systems. I am also supporting vehicle electrification (high voltage syatems)and vehicle battery research (at the cell and module level). I am extremely proud of all the work I have been apart of and greatful for all the opprotunities provided me. Looking forward to many years ahead. Specialties: Vehicle Instrumentation, Control Systems, data acquisition, proto-type development.
