  Hello, my name is Omar Jaramillo, I live in New York city, the Bronx. I’m a senior working on my Bachelors in Fine Arts program at CUNY Lehman College, and majoring in photography. I want to build my experience and educate myself further as a photographer. At Lehman College, I am learning about digital and analog photography, editing and post-production using Photoshop and Lightroom, processing prints and film in the dark room, digital printing, and studio lighting. In my studio lighting class, I have learned how to do lighting for portraits, glass, metal, and textured surfaces, and how to use both strobe and continuous lighting. My film photography class has taught me a lot about slowing down and being very deliberate with the process of making photographs. Every step from reading light correctly and making the correct exposure to make sure that the photo chemicals are the correct temperature and controlling the density and contrast of my prints at the enlarger. Going through a slower process has let me really work with my composition and make each photograph count. While I had previous experience with digital editing using Lightroom and Photoshop, I’ve learned a lot about the importance of file management, metadata and ensuring that my work is safely backed up.
