Paul Gough’s Expertise Professor Paul Gough is Pro-Vice Chancellor and vice-president; Head of the College of Design and Social Context. From September 2015 to May 2016 he is also Deputy Vice-chancellor Academic (acting). DSC has 25,000 students; 800 Phd; 1000+ permanent academic staff; 1500 sessional staff. QS ranking 2015: Art and Design 20th in world (1st in Australia); 33rd in world Architecture and Built Environment (4th in Australia). 13 research centres. Presence in Australia, Vietnam, HongKong and RMIT Europe, where he was Chair of Board 2014-15. Paul was previously Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at UWE, Bristol. For ten years he was Executive Dean of a large Faculty of Creative Arts, Design and Media, and the Royal West of England Academy Professor of Fine Arts. A painter, broadcaster and writer, he has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad, is represented in several art collections, including the permanent collection of the Imperial War Museum, London; Canadian War Museum, Ottawa; National War Memorial, New Zealand. Recent exhibitions have been in Melbourne, London, New Zealand. Extensive portfolio of academic roles include - member of the Strategic Advisory Group, UK Arts and Humanities Research Council; chair of ‘Landscape and Environment’ commissioning panel, 5 year, 5 million pounds programme. Panel member RAE 2001; HEFCE Research Capability Fund panel; Chair of Art and Design in UK RAE 2008. Has since worked with governments and universities in New Zealand, Romania, and Australia on research assessment exercises. He is chair of the Hong Kong Research Assessment Panel for the RAE 2014.
