  For the past three years, I have been running my own business as a doula, supporting women through birth and postpartum. During this time, I have been able to pour my heart into work I am passionate about while acquiring professional expertise. During this time, I completed my course work and masters thesis research as well as working as the lead graduate teaching assistant for my department. For my masters thesis, I studied breeding patterns in lemurs. This included observation, data collection, analysis, coding, scientific writing, and defense of my thesis. In my role as lead GA, I not only taught several undergraduate classes (leading lectures, grading, holding office hours, etc) but also lead the other teaching assistants. In this role, I acted as a mentor and liaison between them and senior faculty. I also contributed to the employee handbook and designed and taught a course on the topic of online course design. One of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve ever had was my internship at Limbe Wildlife Centre in Cameroon. During my time there, I learned valuable skills in animal husbandry and behavioral research. My primate caretaking duties involved feeding, providing medication, cleaning enclosures, creating enrichment, and general maintenance. I was also a part of a research team studying social dynamics in a newly created group of guenons. Our goal was to understand and manage dominance struggles within the group. I also have museum experience from my volunteer work at Bill Baggs state Park in Miami Florida.
