In 1996 he joined Destiny Electronic Commerce as Web Master and left in 2001 after two years as Business-to-Business Electronic Commerce Consultant when the company was sold and scaled down. During this period Philip was intimately involved in designing and providing technical Business-to-Business communication solutions to large companies, especially in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) market. These solutions ranged from electronic order placement via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to Web based order tracking solutions. The EDI solution was the GE Global Exchange Services (GSX) solution running on HP-UNIX computers. Philip also worked closely with IBM and ABSA on the Consumer Payment Wallet project. Destiny e-commerce was also responsible for various trial implementations of the IBM e-commerce product, Net.Commerce combined with the IBM database, Db2, where Philip was the Team Leader and Lead Analyst. Duties included Project Management, preparing Service Level Agreements (SLA), Business Analysis and direct customer interface. Philip achieved the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification on 8 December 2020, the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate on 11 February 2021, and the AWS Certified Sysops Administrator – Associate certification on 30 March 2021.
