Philip Magee’s Expertise Proven hitmaker Philip Magee has been working behind the scenes for more than 17 years, supporting artists like Kodaline, The Script, Gavin James, Miles Kane, The Academic, Wild Youth and many more. Working as a music producer, mix engineer and music industry professional, Philip has a keen understanding of the business, across a wide range of genres, working also in A&R, movie music supervision, music consultancy and as his role as a board member on Ireland’s performers royalties organisation (RAAP) and a steering committee member of Association of Independent Music Ireland (AIM Ireland). To date, he’s worked on songs with over six billion streams, and albums that sold over four million copies. As a producer, he’s the secret sauce in the song; an integral part of the creative and technical process. He guides artists in the studio, unlocking their potential and shaping their hits from beginning to end - a process he’s deeply passionate about. His humble approach, genuine curiosity and creative technique allows him to connect with artists and share their vision, so that the sounds coming out of the studio are unique each time. Philip kicked off his career as a house engineer and producer in Chili Studios, Dublin. From there, he became a freelance producer and engineer, with The Script and Aslan as his first clients. As his reputation and experience evolved, Philip engineered and produced tracks for Kodaline’s three multi-platinum selling albums, engineered Miles Kane’s most recent album, ‘Don’t Forget Who You Are’ and produced the title track for Disney movie ‘The Finest Hours’. In the last number of years, Philip has also produced tracks for some of Ireland’s most prominent acts, the likes of Gavin James, Wild Youth, Luz Corrigan, The Academic, Róisín O, The Blizzards, Tebi Rex, Hermitage Green and Thumper to name a few. Philip is also a regular on radio airwaves, podcasts and YouTube where he has been invited to speak on a number of topics related to music. He’s also provided insight into the industry at a number of third level colleges, live events, and is a regular speaker at music industry panels within Ireland and the UK. Philip loves talking to and taking questions from aspiring musicians, engineers and producers - sharing essential tips and insights that will help them get their foot in the door, improve their skills, or explore and develop their creativity. Amid the pandemic, he’s been working from his home studio, streaming high-quality audio as guest lectures at online panels and classes.
